Free Movement (Unity)

Overview

Imagine being dropped into a vast world, with countless places to explore and mysteries to uncover. That any place you can see, you can go to. Essentially a Breath of the Wild style world navigation in first person.

Current Status

The project is currently a complete vertical slice of a full game that may need a bit of polish. The player can run, jump, climb, glide, and swim around the island as they see fit. Feel free to climb up the buildings in the town and run along the rooftops, or climb to the top of the hill and glide off into the sunset.

Future Goals

My next steps are to be ironing out the rough edges of the project. Some aspects work pretty well, I find the climbing and gliding to be enjoyable with a bit of experience. The swimming, however, leaves much to be desired. There is also some clipping issues with the climbing to be address, currently I need to adjust all the colliders on an object to be smooth in order to keep it feeling okay. 

Beyond that, the goals would be to build a game around it. Introduce puzzles and story elements to guide the player from location to location. I would like to introduce powerups that unlock areas much as a Metroidvania would use them.
