Hello! This is my first blog post on this page!

In trying to put together this portfolio website it's become painfully clear that I really don't have a lot to showcase. It's not to say I haven't done anything, quite the contrary, but not enough of those actions have actually resulted in a product I can show off. I've completed a lot of tutorials, I've worked on a lot of personal projects, and going back further I've done a good deal of student projects. But none of them really got to the point of polish that I'd feel good showcasing.

This ends now! From this point on I'm going to focus all of my attention onto a new portfolio project and I'll be giving you frequent updates as I go along. Consider this post my beginning.

And what would a beginning be without an introduction to the project? I'm a big fan of some old school (well, relative to today) RPG's. My childhood was spent on Final Fantasy 7, Diablo 2, and most importantly for this, World of Warcraft.

That's where I'll start, trying to create my spin a single player version of World of Warcraft (the vanilla version, back when it was gloriously slow). Obviously not in terms of content, but in terms of feel and progression.

Gear, talents, professions, combat (tab targeting for the win!), quests, levels! I've got the basics down right now but I'll save the more detailed updates for later. I hope you'll enjoy the journey as much as I'm excited to get it started. Cheers! Ben
